Description
"The Purple Pink Wedge" is an art print done in a fauvist style of oil painting (Fauvism: a style of painting with vivid expressionistic and nonnaturalistic use of color that flourished in Paris from 1905). The inspiration behind this piece is a structure in the desert that is used to observe the stars. It is built in a conical shape spiraling upwards where you walk to reach the top. Using just portions of the architecture, I based this abstract print off of a triangular "wedge" shaped section. Using the same basic geometric shape, I created a series of prints changing the angle and color hues. In this particular piece I used bright, bold colors contrasting a purple and pink wedge against a blue sky. At the bottom of the wedge, I used orange and red to bring a new color element into the picture. The contrasting colors and the geometric shape create an eye catching work of art. This particular style works well in a contemporary or modern interior design decor. I invite you to share in my love of art and enjoy this print!
