Description
Pondering the Surf is an art print I created using a gothic oil technique. This technique uses bold brush strokes and earth tone colors to create an old world feel or vintage look. The scene depicts a man on a beach pondering the Hawaiian surf. This beach is on the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Island chain. It is a secluded beach as you have to hike a trail that takes you up and along the cliffs of the Na Pali coastline and then down into this beach.

Love your treatment of this image so much! It truly feels like a version of 'tunnel vision,' which gives that feeling of being lost in your own world of thoughts...wonderful!...f/v

Beautiful technique, I like how brush work turns the landscape details almost into abstract, this draws the eye to the man watching the surf.

The mixture of your brushwork styles is so interesting, Kirt, really creates a lot of drama as does the darkness at the top. This is really compelling.
