Description
Hay Cart is a sepia tone photographic art print of an old hay cart located in the Amana Colonies. I was on a photo shoot of farms around the Amana Colonies in Eastern Iowa. The time frame was the middle of a February that hadn’t produced much snow. With little or no snow on the ground, the scenery takes on a barren look, which the sepia tone highlights. I almost drove by this scene. It was one of those things I caught out of the corner of my eye. It took me two blocks to register what I thought I saw and then turned around. Glad I did! I used a sepia tone finish on the photograph for that old rustic look. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Today, we can recreate that same vintage look digitally.t is matted and framed can change the entire look of the print.
